Following the activities of the Sounds of Change project, co-financed by the European Union – the Creative Europe program, the Serbian National Theater announces a Call for The Orchestral Artistic Residency in Novi Sad at the Serbian National Theater from September to December 2023.

The artistic residency is intended for young professional musicians who want to gain experience playing in an Opera orchestra and is open for the following positions:
1. Violin – tutti
2. Viola – tutti
3. Cello – tutti
4. Double bass – tutti

• The Call is open from June 10 to August 10, 2023
  
  
• The right to participate is for three young professional players who have completed bachelor’s or master’s studies in violin, viola, cello, or double bass.

• Application method – The complete application should be sent, by email, to artistic.residence@snp.org.rs .
  
  
• The application should contain a short biography, a motivational letter, and a link to the video material of the compulsory program played (Youtube link – unlisted)

Note: the video material should be recorded in 2023 with or without piano accompaniment.

Compulsory program:

1. VIOLIN
– W.A.Mozart – Violin Concertos (by choice), 1st movement with Cadenza
– J.S.Bach – Sonatas and Partitas for Violin Solo (BWV 1001-1006), two movements by choice

2. VIOLA
– F.A.Hoffmeister – Viola Concerto, 1st movement with Cadenza or C.Stamitz –Viola Concerto, 1st movement with Cadenza
– J.S.Bach –  Sonatas and Partitas for Violin Solo (BWV 1001 -1006), transcripted for Viola – two movemets by choice

3. VIOLONCELLO
– J. Haydn – Concerto for Violoncello (by choice), 1st movement with Cadenza
– A Dvorak  – Cello concerto (by choice), 1st movement,  or R.Schumann Cello concerto a-moll 1st movement

4. DOUBLE BASS
– Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf – Concerto for Contrabass (by choice) 1st movement with Cadenza,
– Serge Koussevitzky – Double Bass concerto – 1st movement without Cadenza

SELECTION OF CANDIDATES:
The Committee of the Serbian National Theater will choose candidates based on the received applications. The committee will select a maximum of 4 candidates. The Orchestra Residence will cover the costs of staying in Novi Sad (foreign participants) and professional engagement (monthly fee based on Rules of Serbian National Theatre) from September to December 2023. The results will be published on August 23, 2023 on the website of the Serbian National Theater www.snp.org.rs. Selected candidates will be notified via the email from which the application was sent. The final decision of the Committee cannot be changed or reversed. The selected candidates must respond to the call by September 4. Otherwise, they will be considered to have given up their participation in The Orchestral Residency.
