In our continuous commitment to cultivating a positive impact through art, last year, Sounds of Change proudly launched the Call for Composers. This initiative aimed to inspire and incentivize young artists to reshape Europe through the transformative power of music, while also fostering crucial values such as environmental awareness and supporting gender equality.

We are thrilled to share the exciting outcome of this endeavor—a composition entitled “Triple Goddess.” This piece emerged victorious among numerous talented candidates, earning the esteemed approval of our discerning jury.

Synopsis of “Triple Goddess”:

The composition “Triple Goddess” is a three-movement orchestral piece that explores the synergy between nature and humanity. Inspired by ancient beliefs, the work is centered around the concept of the Triple Goddess—Maiden, Mother, and Crone—symbolized by the phases of the Moon and the cycles of a woman’s life.

The first movement conveys peace and spirituality, occasionally disrupted to foreshadow events in subsequent movements. The second movement introduces liveliness, symbolizing changes in both atmosphere and life in harmony with nature. Solo woodwinds emulate ancient wooden pipes, leading seamlessly into the third movement.

The final movement draws inspiration from Balkan heterophony, prevalent in mountainous regions, particularly among older women. The intention is to bring attention to the neglected ancient belief in the divine female figure, contrasting the predominant emphasis on male deities in Christianity. Through “Triple Goddess,” the composer aims to restore balance and raise awareness of the significance of the female divine in our cultures.

Furthermore, we are thrilled to announce that our commitment to nurturing innovative musical expression continues with the commissioning of a new work for Sounds of Change’s Opera. This exceptional production is currently in the works and is set to grace the stage at Serbia National Theatre during the 2024-2025 season.
