More about the Orchestra Academy
Sounds of Change encourages emerging artists and musicians to apply through open calls which are published annually (until the conclusion of the project in 2025), to then benefit from the Sounds of Change project activities by participating in the exchange of know-how and expanded network, experiencing new work contexts (new countries, new cities, new spaces).
A fundamental impact to enhance their profile as an artist and to contribute to their artistic growth and innovation is catered by the project, creating the ground for artists to experiment and perform at their full capacity without the pressure of everyday life.
At the Orchestra Academy, students acquire the necessary technical and interpretative skills, build confidence in the response, function and collaboration within the orchestra, knowledge of different styles and epochs, and learn how to adapt. During the various phases of the symphony and chamber orchestra that include individual, sectional and group rehearsals, the participants are guided in their work in a collaborative manner by selected mentors. They also play concerts with younger musicians, which is an invaluable experience for all and a unique opportunity that develops the intergenerational dynamic and supports the passion of musical reproduction.
The Orchestra Academy provides participants with intensive work in the orchestra with internationally renowned musicians, developing personal potential and gaining invaluable experiences for the future.
This educational programme has two important goals: refinement and excellence. With them, we set a high standard in orchestral performance in the most demanding programs with internationally renowned soloists and conductors. Together with top professors, the master classes are designed to offer young musicians top-level lessons, where they create and design the music repertoire in excellent conditions, prepare for an important audition or competition, and refine their playing technically and musically. Particular attention is paid to the musician’s artistic conviction, which is why we also give the participants a public concert connected to the main artistic output of each cycle. The basis of each course is the individual reworking of the participant’s chosen repertoire, and the repertoire upgrade is the disclosure of musical reproduction from different perspectives, both in solo and chamber literature, either in a group play of the same instruments or accompanied by a piano. Musicians are also proficient in their professional development and access to content for active career planning, creation, and management.
These methodologies will allow professional growth and network expansion and at the same time promote interpersonal sharing, training for personal evolution, and social transformation through the arts, recognising the European values and the artistic work as a tool for change. For these reasons the methodologic approach is appropriate for achieving the project objectives and results.
